A category is a like a folder or section for your events. When a user clicks on a category, it displays any events associated to the category. An event can be in more than one category if you like. Categories are also hierarchical, meaning you can have categories within categories (i.e. sub-categories). 

How are categories different from tags?

Categories can be nested with sub-categories. Tags have a flat structure, and are meant for labelling events across categories. You can however use either to organise your events.

How do I add a category?

  1. Go to Website > Events > Categories.
  2. Next to the category you want to add into, click Add. There can only be one parent category; other categories and sub-categories can be added underneath this.
  3. Enter the category details.
  4. Click Add.

How do I edit a category?

  1. Go to Website > Events.
  2. Select Categories from the left-hand menu.
  3. Find the category you want to edit and click Edit in the Options column.
  4. Change the details for the category.
  5. Click Update.

How do I move a category?

  1. Go to Website > Events > Categories.
  2. Find the category you want to move; In the Options column, click More and select Move.
  3. Choose the new parent category and click Move.

How do I re-order a category?

  1. Go to Website > Events > Categories.
  2. Find the category you want to re-order; In the Options column, click More and select Nudge up or Nudge down.

How do I publish a category?

  1. Go to Website > Events > Categories.
  2. Click on the category you want to publish.
  3. Under the Options column, click the More menu and click on Published.

How do I delete a category?

  1. Go to Website > Events > Categories.
  2. Next to the category, click More in the Options column and select Delete from the drop-down menu.
  3. Click Delete category.

How do I categorise an event?

  1. First you must have already set up your categories.
  2. Then go to Website > Events > Events.
  3. Click on the event to edit.
  4. Click on the Edit detail button in the top right.
  5. Scroll down to where it says Categories.
  6. Tick the categories you want to put the event in.
  7. Click Update at the bottom of the page.

How do I categorise multiple events at a time?

  1. Go to Website > Events.
  2. Next to the event, tick the checkbox for all the events you want to add to the same category.
  3. Once you've selected all the events you want to categorise, click the dropdown menu below the events list.
  4. Scroll down to where it says Add to category.
  5. Choose the category that you want.
  6. Click Go.
