How to add, edit, delete and use event tags.

What are event tags?

A tag is like a label or a keyword that describes the event that it is added to. When a customer clicks on an event tag, any events that you have added the tag to will be displayed.

An event can have more than one tag. Tags are nonhierarchical but can be grouped together using tag groups.

How are tags different from categories?

Tags have a flat structure and are meant for labelling events across categories while categories have nested sub-categories.

For example, you could organise events under a parent category of 'Seminars' with sub-categories of 'Business', 'Personal development' and 'Communication' but any of the events in any of the categories could have a tag added like 'Coming soon' or 'Limited seating'.

How do I add a tag?

  • Go to Commerce > Events > Tags.

  • Click the Add button in the top right.

  • Enter a Title.

  • Optionally, enter a Description (including text, photos & video).

  • Optionally, enter a Page title (SEO).

  • Optionally, enter a Page description (SEO).

  • Optionally, select a Group.

  • Select a Website status.

  • Click the Add button.

How do I edit a tag?

  1. Go to Commerce > Events > Tags.

  2. Find the tag you are looking for and click the Edit button in the Options column.

  3. Update the tag's details.

  4. Click the Update button.

How do I move a tag?

  1. Go to Commerce > Events > Tags.

  2. Find the tag you are looking for and and click and hold the move icon then drag the tag up or down the tag list.

How do I delete a tag?

  1. Go to Commerce > Events > Tags.

  2. Find the tag you are looking for and click the Delete button in the Options column.

  3. Click the Delete button.

How do I add tags to an event?

To add a tag to an event, you must have first added at least one tag.

  1. Go to Commerce > Events > Events.

  2. Find the event you want to add tags to and click on it.

  3. Click the Edit button in the top right.

  4. Tick the Tags you want to add.

  5. Click the Update button.

How do I remove tags from an event?

  1. Go to Commerce > Events > Events.

  2. Find the event you want to remove tags from and click on it.

  3. Click the Edit button in the top right.

  4. Un-tick the Tags you want to remove.

  5. Click the Update button.

How do I add a tag to multiple events?

  1. Go to Commerce > Events > Events.

  2. Tick the checkboxes next to the events you want to add a tag to.

  3. Click the drop-down menu below the event list.

  4. Select a tag under the Add tag heading.

  5. Click the Go button.

How do I remove a tag from multiple events?

  1. Go to Commerce > Events > Events.

  2. Tick the checkboxes next to the events you want to remove a tag from.

  3. Click the drop-down menu below the event list.

  4. Select a tag under the Remove tag heading.

  5. Click the Go button.
