What are product types?
Types allow you to add custom fields for a particular type.
Custom fields allow you to hold extra information (e.g. brand, model number) against a product type. You can set up custom fields to apply to just the product (e.g. brand), or to the sub-product (e.g. model number). Any product custom fields are shown on the product listings on your website.
How do I add a product type?
Go to Commerce > Products > Types.
Click the Add button in the top right.
Enter a Title.
Click the Add button.
How do I edit a type?
Go to Commerce > Products > Types.
Find the type that you are looking for and click the Edit button in the Options column.
Edit the type's details.
Click the Update button.
How do I delete a type?
Go to Commerce > Products > Types.
Find the type that you are looking for and click the Delete button in the Options column.
Click the Delete button to confirm.
How do I add a custom field to a type?
Go to Commerce > Products > Types.
Find the type that you are looking for and click the Custom fields button in the Options column.
Click the Add button in the top right.
Enter a Title.
Select a Value type*.
Click the Add button.
* In additon to text, custom fields can have pre-defined options, for example: You may already know all the brands you support. Select pre-defined as the Value type and you can then add the options separately, see How do I add an option to a custom field?.

Go to Commerce > Products > Types.
Find the type that you are looking for and click the Custom fields button in the Options column.
Find the custom field that you are looking for and click the Edit button in the Options column.
Edit the custom field's details.
Click the Update button.
How do I delete a custom field?

Find the type that you are looking for and click the Custom fields button in the Options column.

How do I add an option to a custom field?
If a product type has a custom field that uses the pre-defined value type then you can add options.
Go to Commerce > Products > Types.
Find the type that you are looking for and click the Custom fields button in the Options column.
Find the custom field that you are looking for and click the Options button in the Options column.
Click the Add button in the top right.
Enter a Title.
Click the Add button.

How do I assign a type to a product?
Go to Commerce > Products > Products
Find the product that you are looking for and click on it.
Click the Edit button in the top right.
Select a type from the drop-down.
Click the Update button.
How do I add custom fields to a product?
Go to Commerce > Products > Products.
Find the product that you are looking for and click on it.
Click the Website Listing tab under the product title.
Click the Edit button to the right of the Website listing heading.
Scroll down and you'll see the list of fields that you can add the product to.
Click the Update button.
