For any item you're selling, there's often a handful of different prices associated with it.

For example:

  • How much it costs you

  • The Recommend Retail Price (RRP)

  • How much you sell it for, to your retail customers

  • How much you sell it for, to your wholesale customers

  • How much you sell it for, to your member customers

Pricing tiers allow you to set up all these different pricing tiers.

What pricing tiers can I create on Airsquare?

Out of the box, we have 3 fixed pricing tiers:

  • Cost - This is how much the item costs you. By setting a cost price, you can then see your profit margins.

  • Retail - This is how much you're selling the item to the everyday retail customer for. If you just have one price for everyone, this is what you use.

  • Comparison - This is shown next to the price and is crossed out. It's a great way to show the customer any discount that they are getting. You may choose to put the RRP price here.

You can add you as many extra pricing tiers as you need and you can call them whatever you like.

Once you've set up extra tiers, you can assign them to your customers. Then, when they login, they'll see those prices and can purchase at that rate.

How do I add a pricing tier?

  1. Go to Commerce > Pricing tiers.

  2. Click Add.

  3. Enter a Title (i.e. Wholesale, Members).

  4. Choose whether the prices are Tax inclusive

  5. Click Add.

Once you've added a pricing tier you'll need to:

  • Add prices for this tier to anything you sell in Airsquare (e.g product, sub product, ticket type, membership). You'll see a new tier appear under Prices for these when you add/edit them. If you have lots of prices to add, use the import function.

  • Add shipping rates for this tier (see below).

  • Assign people to this tier (see below).

How do I assign people to this tier?

  1. Go to Contacts > People.

  2. Find the person you want to assign to a tier.

  3. Click Edit.

  4. Change Pricing tier to the one you want them to have. (Note: You can't assign customers to the cost or comparison tiers).

  5. Click Update.

When this person logs in, they will see pricing for this tier. They will have to have a Username and Password set up in order for them to login.

How do I assign organisations to this tier?

  1. Go to Contacts > Organisations.

  2. Find the organisation you want to assign to a tier.

  3. Click Edit.

  4. Change Pricing tier to the one you want them to have. (Note: You can't assign customers to the cost or comparison tiers).

  5. Click Update.

When a person logs in from this organisation, they will see pricing for this tier.

What pricing tier does a person get?

The following hierarchy is used to assign a pricing tier for a person. Each level supersedes the one before. e.g. An organisation membership is the most important and supersedes the person.

  1. Person - The pricing tier assigned to them

  2. Organisation - The pricing tier assigned to the organisation they are part of (if buying on behalf of the organisation)

  3. Person membership - The pricing tier for the active membership they are part of.

  4. Organisation membership - The pricing tier for the active membership their organisation is part of (if buying on behalf of the organisation)

There's a direct relationship between a pricing tier and shipping rates.

This means you need to set up shipping rates for each pricing tier.

There's a couple of reasons for this:

  • Tax inclusivity needs to be considered and may be different between tiers.

  • You may want to offer different shipping rates for different pricing tiers. For example, retail customers might get free shipping because the margins are much better and you can absorb the cost. Wholesale customers however get a much sharper price, margins are lower, so shipping needs to be paid by them.

How is tax inclusivity determined?

Tax inclusivity is set against the pricing tier. This means you can choose to set retail prices as tax inclusive and wholesale prices as tax exclusive. We then calculate the appropriate tax during checkout.

Note: Cost price is always set to tax exclusive.

How do I change tax inclusivity for a pricing tier?

  1. Go to Commerce > Pricing tiers.

  2. Click Edit next to the pricing tier that you want to change.

  3. Change Tax inclusive to Yes or No.

  4. Click Update.

How do I change the tax rate?

This is done through tax zones.

How do I re-order pricing tiers?

You may want to have the pricing tiers in a particular order on the add/edit screens. To re-order the pricing tiers:

  1. Go to Commerce > Pricing tiers.

  2. Then simply click, hold and drag each pricing tier in the table to move up or down. Let go once it's in the right place.

How do I delete a pricing tier?

  1. Go to Commerce > Pricing tiers.

  2. Click Delete next to the pricing tier you want to delete.

  3. Click Delete.

Note: Any prices and shipping rates that you have set up for this pricing tier will be deleted too.
